Authorities promote protection of the environment

The Secretary of Water and Environment of the People’s Government, in coordination with the municipality of Irapuato, commemorated World Environment Day with an event that brought together students, companies and civilians, around the same objective: to care for natural resources and strengthen environmental awareness.

Elementary school children were recognized for their drawings and stories in the “Allies of the Environment” contest, an initiative that the municipality of Irapuato has promoted for many years. Additionally, through the municipal program “Actors for the Environment,” awards were presented to institutions and companies that have transformed their consumption habits.

Later, youth representatives received an award from the Secretary of Water and Environment as part of the “Young for Water and the Environment” program, a symbol of the commitment of the new generations to build a Guanajuato that is more friendly to nature.

The commemoration included an environmental fair aimed at students and keynote lectures on water and the environment, spaces that foster learning and reflection on the importance of protecting natural resources.

Secretary Jose Lara Lona emphasized that Guanajuato, with all its natural wealth, deserves to be cared for permanently and with collective responsibility. “Let us continue working together for the environment, so that our actions today become a legacy for future generations,” he said.

Lara added that the Secretary is promoting water and environmental projects under the leadership of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, demonstrating that every action, however small it may seem, adds up in building a sustainable Guanajuato.

The commemoration of World Environment Day in Irapuato is a clear example that the sum of efforts between people, education institutions, companies and Government is the key to move towards a future in harmony with nature.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Irapuato, Lorena Alfaro, environmental promoters from different municipalities, representatives of SEMARNAT, PAOT, education institutions, and companies.
