Guanajuato joins the World Heart Day 2026 and invites everyone to act immediately in case of a crisis
Guanajuato/Gto News
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato is calling everyone to recognize the signs of a heart attack in a timely manner.

Identifying the symptoms and seeking help immediately can make a significant difference in a cardiac emergency.

A heart attack can manifest as chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, cold sweats, or discomfort that spreads to the arm, back, neck, or jaw. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is crucial to seek help and call 911 immediately.
During National Heart Week, the Secretary of Health called for people to recognize an emergency, request support, and know how to act while waiting for specialized care.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, pointed out that a cardiac emergency can occur at any time and the first person to help can be in any area; therefore, having basic knowledge to respond can become a fundamental support during the first few minutes.
Cortes said that the Cardioprotected Spaces strategy is being promoted, to establish a regulatory framework that strengthens its implementation, regulation and sustainability.

As part of these actions, the Central Offices of the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato are advancing in their preparation to become cardioprotected spaces, strengthening the capabilities of the staff to respond to emergency situations.
Nearly 199 people from the administrative, nursing, medical and psychology areas have received training from the Guanajuato State Emergency System (SUEG) in hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of the automated external defibrillator (AED).

Recognizing the symptoms of a heart attack allows you to seek timely medical attention at a Community or General Hospital. In an emergency, the recommendation is not to wait for the discomfort to disappear and to request help immediately.
How to help:
– If a person loses consciousness and is not breathing normally, starting hands-only CPR and using an AED, when available and when trained, can help maintain an emergency response until specialized personnel arrive
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reminds everyone that a heart can need help at any time, so being prepared, recognizing warning signs, calling 911, and knowing how to act is a shared responsibility that can help save a life.
