From Mexico City, Guanajuato invites all of Mexico and the world to experience the identity, excitement, and magic of the International Balloon Festival, which is held every year in Leon
Mexico City/Gto News
From the largest city in Mexico, Guanajuato extends an invitation to all Mexicans and foreigners to live an experience that begins by looking at the sky, but which can become an opportunity to discover everything that the State has to offer.

For the People’s Government of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, it is an honor that every November, the International Balloon Festival (FIG) brings together thousands of families, visitors, and dreamers who come from different corners of Mexico and the world to share the same emotion: to look at the sky, be amazed, and let themselves be carried away by the magic of hundreds of balloons that transform the sunrise into an unforgettable postcard.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity of Guanajuato, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, representing the Governor of the People, announced at a press conference that from November 13 to the 16, the Metropolitan Park of Leon will once again be a meeting point for Mexico and the world, with the participation of 200 balloons from 25 countries and 40 special figures, which will fill each sunrise and the traditional Magic Nights with color.
The Secretary noted that this year an estimated 400,000 visitors are expected, consolidating the FIG as one of the major international hot air ballooning events and as one of the tourist experiences that distinguish Guanajuato.

“I proudly affirm that the International Balloon Festival is not just a tourist event. It is an expression of Guanajuato’s identity and an event that elevates the name of our State. Today I want to invite all Mexican families, from here in the Capital and from every corner of Mexico, to join us from November 13th to the 16th,” said the Secretary.
Robles explained that as part of the destinations in Guanajuato are Guanajuato City and San Miguel de Allende, the two World Heritage Cities; in addition to the six Magic Towns, Comonfort, Dolores Hidalgo Cradle of National Independence, Jalpa de Canovas, Mineral de Pozos, Salvatierra and Yuriria; and the five archaeological zones, El Coporo, Canada de la Virgen, Plazuelas, Peralta and Arroyo Seco.

“Because when someone visits Guanajuato, we want them to take away much more than photographs. We want them to take away emotions, to take away living stories,” the Secretary said.
It was announced that “Friday of the People” is returning, an initiative that reflects the vision of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, to make the first day of the festival with free access all day, allowing more people to enjoy this celebration, including the Los Angeles Azules concert.

“Behind the figures lies something much more important. There are families who find in tourism an opportunity to get ahead. That’s why we promote events like the International Balloon Festival,” the Secretary insisted.
The FIG 2026 is in the agenda that keeps Guanajuato as a meeting point for great experiences, such as:
- International Cervantino Festival, until October 18
- Day of the Dead celebrations in Guanajuato City and San Miguel de Allende, from October 28 to November 2
- Centenary of the Birth of the People’s Composer, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, in Dolores Hidalgo, on November 21 and 22
- International Gala of the Brussels World Competition, in San Miguel de Allende, on November 29 and 30
