The Municipal Government of Purisima del Rincon inaugurated the exhibition “Purisima se Pinta con el Futbol” (Purisima Paints Itself with Football), an initiative that merges art, local identity, and a passion for sports through the artistic intervention of six monumental footballs.
The exhibition was presented at the Main Garden in the presence of Mayor of Purisima del Rincon, Roberto Garcia Urbano, members of the City Council, municipal department directors, representatives of educational institutions, participating artists, and the general public.
This project was created with the objective of celebrating the football atmosphere experienced in the country, while simultaneously promoting the tourist attractions, traditions, culture, and artistic talent of Purisima del Rincon.
Mayor of Purisima del Rincon, Roberto Garcia Urbano, recognized the work and dedication of the artists who participated in the open call, highlighting that each of the pieces reflects the pride and identity of the people of Purisima.
Garcia Urbano noted that the Municipality possesses a significant artistic heritage that remains alive in the younger generations, who found in this exhibition a space to express their creativity and share a unique vision of Purisima del Rincon with the citizenship.
The Mayor thanked the education institutions, the municipal departments of Tourism, Culture, and Public Services, as well as everyone who contributed to make this exhibition possible.
The Director of Tourism, Jose Roberto Camargo Perez, explained that the initiative began approximately a month ago with an invitation to artists, students, and cultural workshops to decorate the footballs with themes related to tourism, culture, traditions, sports, sustainability, and family.
Camargo said that each participant had creative freedom to represent the elements they considered most emblematic of the municipality, achieving pieces full of color, identity, and meaning.
The six giant footballs were crafted by students of the Tecnologico Superior de Purisima del Rincon, students of CETAC, students of the Jalpa de Canovas School of Art, representatives of the Canada de Negros community, artist Hugo Gonzalez Jacinto, and Young members of the Casa de la Cultura.
Among the works, the football crafted by students of the Tecnologico Superior de Purisima del Rincon (TEC) stands out. It integrates representative elements such as La Judea, quince, walnuts, family, sports, and connectivity between communities, showing how tradition, culture, and development are part of the same identity.
Meanwhile, the football created by CETAC students features images of Jalpa de Canovas, Canada de Negros, La Judea, and various tourist and cultural attractions of the municipality. Its creators noted that the crafting process strengthened teamwork, creativity, and a sense of belonging toward Purisima del Rincon.
The pieces will remain on display in the Main Square so that visitors and residents can appreciate them and take photographs. They will subsequently be moved to Jalpa de Canovas, Canada de Negros, and other spaces, with the purpose of continuing to promote the cultural and tourist richness of Purisima del Rincon.
The Municipal Government reaffirms its commitment to create spaces of participation for children and youth, strengthening art, culture, and local identity.
