In the celebration of the 19th anniversary of the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato (UVEG), the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the meeting “19 Years, Connecting Networks of Digital Allies”, a program that brings technology and entrepreneurship closer to women in Guanajuato.

As part of this event, certificates were awarded to 250 women who completed the program, and 5 outstanding projects from this generation were recognized, chosen through the evaluation of a committee.

“The most important aspect of this Digital Allies program has to do with something much more powerful. And it is this strength that arises when we discover what we are capable of, so seeing all of you at this event is very motivating,” the Governor said.
“Today, many of you will raise your hands and say, ‘I’m signing up for this program, I want to participate in Digital Allies because it will continue to grow. Helping women achieve their dreams and continue their education, regardless of their age, is a fundamental task of this People’s Government, and providing them with digital tools is a step forward,” said Libia.

“When we move forward together we go further, and when we support one woman we are supporting more families in Guanajuato, so congratulations to those who completed this training and for presenting their projects, they are an inspiration to more women,” said Libia Dennise.
The Governor reiterated that the Allies Strategy currently has 27 support and care programs for women, in areas such as education, health, and other actions to benefit Guanajuatense women.

And in this whole scheme, UVEG raised its hand and participated with Aliadas Digitales and started the program for 2,500 women, some of whom are here today and have received recognition for their talent and their effort, said the Governor.
This Digital Allies program is here to stay, and due to its success, a new call for applications will be published with 500 free spots added to the Digital Allies program, said Libia.

The Rector of UVEG, Ricardo Narvaez Martinez, said that “nineteen years ago, someone had an idea that at the time seemed almost impossible to adopt: instead of asking people to adapt to education, we had to build an education that adapted to the people. To achieve this, we had to learn to do something very concrete: weave a network. Not of cables or antennas, but of opportunities. A thread that reached where no one had reached before. And that network, over the years, grew ever larger.”

Today, UVEG has a presence in all 46 municipalities of Guanajuato, in 1,196 municipalities across Mexico, and in 41 countries worldwide. It boasts 61,050 students, the largest number in the university’s nineteen-year history. “A network isn’t measured solely by its size. It’s measured by who it supports,” said Ricardo Narvaez.
