The People’s Government, through the Financial and Support Fund “Tu Puedes Guanajuato,” brought this initiative to Comonfort, supporting entrepreneurs who are looking to start or improve their small businesses.

Ivon Padilla Hernandez, General Director of the Financial and Support Fund “You Can Guanajuato,” said that one of the objectives of the People’s Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, is to bring programs closer to citizens who want to progress.

“The development of our State lies in every woman who starts a business and in every young person who has the drive to begin a venture, with the goal of getting ahead. Our duty is to be there, understand their challenges, and provide them with the tools they need to have more opportunities to make their projects a reality,” said Padilla.

This Initial Entrepreneur Workshop was attended by 90 new entrepreneurs from different neighborhoods and communities in this municipality, driven by their desire to move forward with greater clarity and confidence in their productive projects for the future.

“We Believe in You” is primarily aimed at women aged 18 to 59 and men aged 18 to 30 who wish to start a productive activity or strengthen a microbusiness. Training is a prerequisite for being eligible to apply for the one-time, non-refundable grant of 7,000 pesos.

“For a business to thrive, it’s not enough to know how to make a product or provide a service. You also have to trust in your own abilities, dare to ask questions, overcome your fears, empower yourself, and take the next step. That’s what we want people to take away from this workshop,” said Ivon.

Laura Gutierrez is a 27-year-old who grew up in a family of merchants. She sells her plaster figures in the artisan corridor at the entrance to the Magical Town of Comonfort.

“I sell my plaster figures in a kit that includes brushes and paints; I have kits for children, but also seasonal figures for people to take home and paint and decorate as they wish,” she said.

At the end of the workshop, she expressed her enthusiasm, “I’m leaving this workshop with a lot of motivation to move forward and fulfill my dream of having a large, well-stocked store; right now I sell my products from a small table, but in five years I see myself selling from my own shop.”

“I really like baking and that’s why I’m taking training classes and with the motivation and tools I received today, I know I have the talent and desire to open my own business; I had already thought about opening my own bakery a while ago mainly to support my family’s finances,” said Georgina Araiza, an entrepreneurial woman from the community of La Canterita.
