The People’s Government promotes more jobs and growth: direct exports strengthen Guanajuato’s agricultural sector

In the farming fields of Guanajuato, where effort is measured in harvests and perseverance, there are stories that mark a turning point. Such is the story of Maquinaria Medina, a family business that decided to take the step towards direct exporting and found in international partnerships the opportunity to transform its future.
With over a decade of experience producing vegetables like broccoli, celery, and lettuce, the Medina brothers had established themselves as reliable producers. However, their growth was limited to indirect export schemes. Everything changed in 2025 when, with the support of COFOCE, they participated in a trade mission to McAllen, Texas.
This meeting not only opened doors for them, but also allowed them to achieve what had seemed a distant dream for years: exporting directly to the United States. There they met strategic buyers, with whom they managed to close their first international sale without intermediaries, marking a milestone in their business history.
COFOCE’s support has been key not only in generating contacts but also in preparing and building the trust of entrepreneurs to compete in global markets. These results reflect the vision of the People’s Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, which is committed to empower local businesses to expand internationally and increase the State’s economic potential.
Today, Maquinaria Medina not only generates more than 30 direct and 50 indirect jobs, but also positions itself as an example of how collaboration, preparation and openness to new opportunities can change the course of a company.
“We started by doing tests sending loads to McAllen, although some were unsuccessful, from there other companies approached us. They told us they were going to organize a trip and invited us (to McAllen for a trade mission). We contacted COFOCE, my brothers went to the expo, and they made contact with several businessmen,” said Carlos Medina, Agricultural Entrepreneur.
With new clients on the horizon and negotiations underway, this Guanajuatense company demonstrates that the countryside is also fertile ground for conquering international markets.
With stories like that of Maquinaria Medina, the People’s Government reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, strengthening the local productive fabric and demonstrating that when you believe in the talent of the people, Guanajuato transcends borders .
