Behind the sauces, vegetables, and other foods that reach the tables of thousands of Mexican families is the work of Guanajuatense women and men who make their production possible every day.

Today, that effort is strengthened by a new investment by Conagra Brands in Irapuato, the launch of which was attended by the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

The US-based company allocated $28.8 million to the expansion of its production lines, a project that will generate 77 new jobs and open up more opportunities for families who find in this industry a source of income and stability.

“Large companies put down roots, build relationships, generate trust, and create community. And that is what Conagra has done. And today, they continue to invest in Irapuato and Guanajuato,” said the Governor.

Libia Dennise emphasized that this investment also strengthens the agricultural sector, as 70% of the raw materials used by the company come from domestic suppliers. Furthermore, Conagra has contracted 950 hectares in Guanajuato for corn production, ensuring that the benefits also reach those who work the land, transport, and distribute the products.

During the commissioning of the new production lines, Alberto Cavia, CEO of Conagra Mexico, explained that the expansion will allow the company to produce more than five million cases of food annually, including ketchup, barbecue sauce, and products of the Hunt’s and Del Monte brands.

Cavia emphasized that 93% of the volume of products the company sells in Mexico is manufactured at this plant in Irapuato.

Edgar Ramirez, plant manager, acknowledged the effort of the employees who have made possible the growth of this factory, with a history that began in 1962 in Irapuato.

Mayor of Irapuato, Lorena Alfaro Garcia, emphasized that Conagra’s decision to continue investing in the Municipality reflects trust in the talent of its people and in the conditions the city offers to generate jobs and strengthen its economy.

The Governor gave special recognition to the workers of Conagra, as well as the company’s job stability, which registers an annual staff turnover of close to 1%, Libia also recognized its efforts to reuse water and take advantage of the waste from its production processes.
