To improve traffic flow and make the commutes of thousands of families who travel daily through southern Leon safer, the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, inaugurated the expansion works of Avenida Olimpica, in the section between Villa Munich and Juegos Olimpicos.

With an investment of 10 million 382 thousand pesos, of State resources, 180 meters of this road will be improved, where a bottleneck currently forms that complicates traffic, especially during peak hours.

“I always tell you that the only way to repay your affection and trust is by working hard and delivering results. That’s why we’re here, to keep working and to give results to our people,” the Governor told the families in the area.

The project includes widening the road from two to four lanes, two in each direction, as well as constructing a median, bike path, sidewalks, and streetlights. Potable water and drainage systems will also be installed, along with signage to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

This project will benefit 236,970 people and will improve the conditions of an avenue where approximately 22,000 vehicles travel daily.

Libia Dennise noted that the project responds to a request from families who live and travel through this area, and is part of Manos a la Obra, a program through which the State Government promotes infrastructure projects in the 46 municipalities of Guanajuato.

“We will continue to be a government that listens to needs and translates those requests into facts and realities like the one we are starting today,” said the State Governor.

The Secretary of Public Works, Juan Pablo Perez Beltran, explained that the project is designed to improve mobility for everyone by providing designated spaces for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. He also asked for the public’s understanding during the construction and urged them to respect traffic signs.

Israel Martinez Martinez, Secretary of Infrastructure, Mobility and Sustainable Development, acknowledged the coordination with the State Government to complete a project that had been planned for several years and that will help to alleviate traffic between Delta and Asis roads, as well as facilitate the passage of public transport.
