“In Guanajuato, every girl, boy, and young student who dreams of getting ahead must find opportunities in education to build their future; therefore, the People’s Government maintains as one of its main priorities expanding the education offer, strengthening learning, and supporting the talent of new generations”, said the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

The Governor of Guanajuato led the ceremony “Guanajuato has Students of Excellence”, in which 71 sixth grade elementary school students with the best averages were recognized and also the young students who will represent the State in international exchange and training programs in Hiroshima, Japan were presented with the flag.

“You live in a State that believes in education, that is committed to education,” the Governor said to students, teachers and families gathered in the Mateo Herrera Auditorium of the Guanajuato Cultural Forum.

The Governor shared with the children the excitement of recognizing the effort made throughout the school year and highlighted that behind each academic achievement there are hours of study, discipline, dedication and support from families and teachers.

“I am very proud to know you all, to know that during the school year you put your whole heart into it, that you studied a lot, that you were doing your homework, that you paid attention in class and that you helped your classmates,” said the Governor.

The 71 recognized students come from all seven regional education offices and represent the diversity and talent found throughout Guanajuato. As part of this recognition, they received a technological tool to strengthen their education processes and the development of their digital skills.

“When we recognize a brilliant student, no matter what grade they go to, they will always continue to shine, they will continue to work to excel. That is what we celebrate today in Guanajuato,” said the Governor.

Also, 10 students and two teachers who will travel to Japan as part of the Guanajuato-Hiroshima Youth Exchange Program were presented with their flags, as well as two students who will participate in the Hiroshima Global Youth Forum 2026.

These programs originated from the Friendship Agreement signed in 2014 by Guanajuato and the Prefecture of Hiroshima and aim to train young students with leadership, global vision, intercultural sensitivity and commitment to peacebuilding.

The Governor invited the young people to take the values, talent and identity of Guanajuato to Japan, as well as to return to the State with new knowledge and experiences that contribute to the development of their communities.

“I want you to take the best of Guanajuato with you. I want to congratulate you because now comes an experience that will change your lives, and we are committed to continuing to support more young people so they can have this international experience and return to Guanajuato to continue building your dreams from here,” said the Governor.

The Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, Luis Ignacio Sanchez Gomez, emphasized that recognizing academic excellence and opening opportunities for international training responds to a conviction that guides the education policy of the People’s Government: to promote the potential of each student so that you can achieve your goals.

“Education excellence transcends when a quality education opens new horizons for students,” Sanchez Gomez noted.

The Secretary asked the young people who will be traveling to Japan to use the experience to learn about other cultures, strengthen their leadership and, upon their return, share the knowledge acquired with their schools and communities.
