The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, through the State Center for Transfusion Medicine (CEMT), maintains the highest standards of quality and safety to ensure that blood and its components intended for patient care are completely reliable.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, in the context of World Blood Donor Day noted that the ISAPEG units comply with national and international protocols in transfusion medicine.
Therefore, as part of the fundamental procedures carried out daily at CEMT, 100 percent of the blood units collected in Guanajuato are subject to specialized serological studies, which ensures that all blood supplies offered to the Guanajuatense population are properly analyzed before use.
The serological process is essential for transfusion safety, as it allows the identification of whether a person has been exposed to certain infectious agents, such as viruses or bacteria, as well as detecting the presence of antibodies or developed immunity against various diseases.
Thanks to these analyses, it is possible to ensure that each blood component meets the quality criteria required for its clinical use.
To strengthen this work, the State Center for Transfusion Medicine has high-tech equipment and highly trained personnel who operate under strict quality management systems.
These efforts have allowed the center to obtain, for 14 consecutive years , recognitions of excellence in third opinion controls in serology and determination of blood groups, awarded by the Licon Institute of Mexico City.
In addition, the ISO 9001:2015 certification has been renewed, a recognition that supports the quality of the processes implemented by the State Center for Transfusion Medicine and that guarantees that the blood products distributed to the medical units of Guanajuato meet certified standards of safety, traceability and continuous improvement.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reaffirms the commitment to protect the health of Guanajuatenses, guaranteeing that every unit of blood collected, processed and distributed in the State meets the highest standards of quality, safety and reliability for the benefit of those who require a transfusion.
