In Guanajuato, young people are not only heard: today they also participate, propose and influence the construction of public policies that seek to transform their environment.

During a new broadcast of the program Connecting with the People, the Governor of the State of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, spoke with Regina Trujillo Dominguez, head of the Institute for the Development and Attention to the Young of the State of Guanajuato, as well as with Ana Darina Leon Capdepont and Carlos Arturo Ramirez Sanchez, members of the Juvevntudes Cabinet, who shared their experience within this pioneering exercise of participation of the young.

The State Governor emphasized that this project was born with a clear conviction: to open real spaces for young people to actively participate in public decisions and contribute their vision to the issues that will shape the present and future of Guanajuato.
“We don’t want to talk about young people, we want to talk with young people. What do young people think? What is their vision on the issues and challenges facing Guanajuato? Because ultimately, it is for them that we work,” said the Governor.

Regina Trujillo explained that this process is not limited to receiving proposals, but rather promotes a formative experience that allows young people to understand how to influence public affairs with vision, methodology, and commitment.
“It involves giving a voice to young people through a project. They are already making an impact because they are already sitting down with a secretary and telling them: young workers are important, the issue of disability is important,” said Trujillo Dominguez.

Regina highlighted that this exercise seeks to become a permanent breeding ground for leadership of the young, with training in topics such as public policy, human rights, gender perspective, leadership and strategic linkage, as well as future international exchanges.
“I believe in this cabinet, I am very grateful for this opportunity because for me it is a door,” said the young woman from Leon, Ana Darina Leon Capdepont who shared her experience as a member of the Cabinet and explained that this space has made it posible for her to promote her project “Young people with the Soul of Bolero”.

“Young people must be heard and we must raise our voices, but we must also be agents of change,” said Carlos Arturo Ramirez Sanchez, physiotherapist, sports coach and member of the Juventudes Cabinet.
Their project is focused on the professionalization of adapted sports, through training for coaches, medical staff and those who are part of the care chain for athletes with disabilities.
+“I would like to leave safe spaces for everyone, so that everyone can enjoy the sport as much as I did,” said Carlos as he shared the legacy he hopes to build from his participation in this exercise.
The Governor acknowledged that youth participation strengthens public work and enriches decision-making by offering new perspectives on issues such as health, education, culture, sports, the economy, and inclusion.

“A government vision will never be complete without our young people and youth,” stated the Head of the Executive.
Libia Dennise celebrated that the young of Guanajuato are stepping forward, raising their voices, promoting causes, and demonstrating that they have much to contribute to build a better State.
