Seven Marca Guanajuato companies of the agro-food sector are prepared to participate for the first time in SIAL Canada, one of the world’s most important trade fairs to boost their internationalization

As part of the strategy to prepare Guanajuatense companies for international markets, the 2nd “SME Business Challenge” was held, focused on strengthening the business profile and global projection of 7 Guanajuato Brand companies from the agro-food sector that will participate for the first time in the SIAL Canada trade fair, one of the most important worldwide events in this industry, which will take place from April 29 to May 1 in Montreal.

This action responds to the vision and leadership of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, aimed at promoting the growth of MSMEs through close work with the producers of Guanajuato, strengthening their capacities to compete in international markets, generate employment and take Guanajuato’s talent to new destinations, through tools that enhance their development and competitiveness.

This event, of French origin and with a presence in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, brings together more than 23,000 visitors, 800 exhibitors, and representatives from over 40 countries, establishing itself as a key platform for connecting with buyers, importers, and distributors, and generating export opportunities in the Canadian market.
The participating companies, all bearing the Marca Guanajuato seal, are:
- Cornerstone Foods, Agricola Serramia, Rancho La California, Tika Corazon, La Tradicional de Salgado, Lakalaka Sauce and Guenba
These companies represent the quality, innovation and diversity of the agro-food sector of Guanajuato.

The “SME Business Challenge” is a cross-cutting effort by the State Government, in which the Secretary of Economy, the Secretary of Agriculture, and the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (COFOCE) combine their resources to boost Guanajuatense businesses through tools such as the Marca Guanajuato, the Export Without Borders program of COFOCE, and the marketing and networking projects of the Secretary of Agriculture (SECAM).
Through Marca Guanajuato, the Secretary of Economy promotes the positioning of local products, strengthening their identity, quality and competitiveness, while facilitating their access to new marketing channels and markets, both national and international.

The Export Without Borders program prepares Guanajuatense companies to participate in international trade fairs and missions, providing them with key tools to compete in global markets and generate business opportunities. Through specialized sessions, participants strengthen their skills in international promotion, executive presentations, and technical aspects of foreign trade such as export pricing, logistics, certifications, and negotiation.
Through COFOCE, companies are supported with close guidance, providing them with the necessary tools to prepare, strengthen their offer, and take advantage of opportunities in international markets.

Through the projects promoted by SECAM, the linking of the agro-food sector is strengthened by opening new marketing channels and integrating it into value chains, generating greater opportunities for growth and positioning for producers.
The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, emphasized that “in Guanajuato we are convinced that the talent of our MSMEs has the potential to compete globally. That is why we create spaces like this, where companies prepare themselves, strengthen themselves, and project themselves into new markets with greater solidity and confidence.”

With these actions, the People’s Government reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting Guanajuatense businesses, strengthening their competitiveness and accompanying them on their path to internationalization.
