Driven by the People’s Government, through Juventudes, the program “Heading to Japan 33” seeks to strengthen the leadership of new generations and promote a global vision of the culture of peace.

During their stay the ambassadors visited spaces dedicated to technological innovation, international cooperation and cultural exchange, however, there was one visit that deeply marked the delegation: Hiroshima.

“I understood that peace is not only built between nations, but also in our schools, communities, and homes. Seeing how a city that suffered so much managed to become a global symbol of reconciliation made me understand the responsibility that we young Guanajuatenses have to prevent history from repeating its most painful episodes,” said Lina Guadalupe Diaz Gamino, from Romita after the visit to the Peace Memorial Park.

As a Biotechnology Engineering student, Lina returned convinced that science, innovation, and international cooperation can become tools to improve people’s quality of life.

“We are young and we are the present, not the future. Seeing the devastation and tragedy of what happened in Hiroshima is an experience that marks you for life. I understood that our generation must raise awareness among new generations to do things right and build a better future for our country,” said Francisco Alberto Navarrete Mares, from Abasolo.

During their time in this country the ambassadors created a shared lesson: peace is not an abstract idea, but a collective responsibility.

“I understood that peace is not the absence of conflict, but the active capacity of a society to rebuild itself with memory, respect, and empathy. The Japanese people transformed one of the most painful moments in their history into a universal message of reconciliation,” said Javier Cortes, a professional and teacher.

During their stay in Japan, the Ambassadors of Peace also visited the Mirai Innovation Research Institute, where they learned about cutting-edge projects in artificial intelligence, robotics and neurotechnology.

They participated in exchange activities with Reiyukai, the program’s host organization and promoter of a philosophy based on peace and service to others; they toured the historic Todai-ji temple and held a meeting with the Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture, strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite Guanajuato and Japan.

Beyond the places visited, the stories of the young people coincide in the same message: peace is built every day and young people have the capacity to become protagonists of that change.
