The new economic policy seeks to ensure that investment, tourism, agriculture, and financing translate into better jobs and incomes for families
“Investment only makes sense when it improves people’s lives,” said the Governor

That a new company arrives in Guanajuato, a community attracts visitors, a producer makes their field more profitable, or a woman obtains financing for her business, all translate into one thing: better income and more opportunities for families.
That is the objective of Guanajuato Suma, A New Direction for Our People, the new economic policy that Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo presented last week and explained today in a new broadcast of her program Connecting with the People.
“What we are aiming for is that development reaches all 46 municipalities and, above all, for it to translate into an improvement in people’s lives. Investment only has value when it improves people’s lives,” said Libia.
With the heads of Economy, Tourism and Identity, Agriculture and Finance, and the “Tu Puedes Guanajuato” Support program, the Governor explained that the strategy seeks to strengthen local businesses, attract new investments, promote talent, and bring opportunities beyond the industrial corridor.
Guanajuato Suma is structured around five pillars:
- Balanced regional development
- Productive diversification and technological transformation
- Industrial infrastructure and energy
- Talent, employability and inclusion
- Strengthening of MSMEs
In tourism, the goal is for the economic benefits to reach more communities. This sector generates 209,000 jobs, 64 percent of which are held by women; it also directly benefits hotels, restaurants, merchants, artisans, traditional cooks, producers, and service providers.
In the field, the strategy focuses on technology, innovation, efficient irrigation systems, crop diversification, and improved marketing conditions to make productive activities more profitable and strengthen the income of those who depend on them.
The financial institution and support program “Tu Puedes Guanajuato” will also be a key tool. It has a presence in all 46 municipalities and has approved more than 8,300 loans totaling over 641 million pesos; in addition, this year it will distribute 4,000 “Creemos en Ti” grants.
The Governor also recalled that Guanajuato Suma began with the announcement of 17 new investments worth $2.558 billion and 3,567 jobs, which add to a total of 76 projects during the current administration.
“If people do well, Guanajuato does well. We will continue to bring opportunities, growth, and well-being to families throughout the State,” said Libia Dennise.
