“With the new economic policy Guanajuato Suma, a round of 17 investments totaling 2.558 billion dollars are coming to Guanajuato, which will generate more than 3,500 direct Jobs,” said Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

Libia Dennise led the inauguration of the 95th edition of the Leather and Footwear Salon (SAPICA), the main business platform of the leather, footwear and leather goods sector in Latin America.

“As part of the great centennial of the organized footwear industry, Guanajuato is experiencing new challenges that demand making future decisions again, as they are doing with the SAPICA FUTURA 100+ concept, and in the Government of the People we are doing it with the Guanajuato Suma strategy,” said Libia Dennise.
The Governor said that Guanajuato Suma seeks to put people at the center of the strategy, because economic development only makes sense when it improves the quality of life of families.

Libia explained that this strategy comprises five main pillars:
- The first is balanced regional development, ensuring that opportunities reach all 46 municipalities in Guanajuato
- The second is productive diversification and technological transformation, promoting strategic sectors and innovation
- The third is industrial infrastructure and energy for development, strengthening the foundations that allow for sustainable growth
- The fourth is talent, employability, and inclusion, because our most important capital will always be our people
- The fifth is the comprehensive strengthening of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, helping them integrate into the value chains of large companies

“And I want to invite this great leather, footwear, and leather goods sector to be a leading part of this new vision,” noted the Governor, who expressed her pleasure at participating in this 95th edition, which takes place from August 11 to 13 at the Poliforum Leon with the concept “SAPICA FUTURA 100+”.
Libia Dennise recalled the leadership and vision of the women and men who formally constituted the Union of Footwear Manufacturers of Leon on May 24, 1926.

“That decision was a decision for the future. It was the conviction that together they could go further. That generation built an identity, a business culture, a way of understanding work and development that is still present in Guanajuato,” said Libia.

Guanajuato cannot be understood without its traditional industries, because they have been the foundation for building the Guanajuato we have today, said the Governor.
The president of CICEG, Juan Carlos Cashat Usabiaga, said that this edition is expected to have the participation of more than 380 exhibiting companies, some 2,000 brands and 2,200 buyers from 17 countries, with an estimate of more than 14,000 business meetings.

During this event, Mario Arturo Rodriguez Guajardo was recognized as the Best Sales Agent, and Francisca Eugenia Cáanovas Moreno as the Best Retailer. “Their careers embody the values of professionalism, perseverance, commitment, and love for what they do,” said the Governor.
