The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reports that in response to the alert issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the Ebola virus; close epidemiological surveillance is being maintained permanently and preventively in Guanajuato.
The 8 Health Jurisdictions provide training to health personnel for the identification of patients with symptoms, and there is also inter-institutional coordination for the communication of possible cases and to act quickly.
– Ebola is a highly lethal viral infectious disease that causes hemorrhagic fever, coagulation disorders, and multiple organ failure.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, pointed out that the WHO alert on Ebola serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining constant vigilance against diseases that pose a risk to international public health.
Furthermore, diseases know no borders, so global health requires responsibility, coordination, and timely preventive actions between authorities and society.

The preventive measures that travelers and non-travelers should adopt are:
- Promote personal higiene
- Frequent hand washing with soap and water
- Use disinfectant
- Do not touch blood, sweat, saliva, vomit, feces or other bodily fluids from sick people or corpses
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reiterated that Guanajuato will continue working with responsibility and commitment to protect people’s health, emphasizing that joint work between society and government always generates better results.
In addition, the People’s Government aligns itself with the preventive notice and information issued by the Federal Health Secretary for people traveling to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
