The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, inaugurated the Second Edition of the National Hat Fair, where the industry, history and local identity will be shown, fused with culture, economy and gastronomy.
It is, said the Governor, a young identity fair with great potential to become an event that occupies the cultural heritage calendar of Guanajuato.
“This fair, more than an economic benefit, is a matter of identity. There cannot be a nation, state or municipality that does not have an identity, since it would be on its way to disappear; in San Francisco del Rincón, the identity with inhabitants of this region must be strengthened.
An identity
“People expect a lot from this fair, there is cohesion between the municipalities and from there cohesion between regions is generated. We have to strengthen this identity, so that this fair prospers for the good of all. It is important to make your own this Franco-Rinconense identity”, said the Governor.
- San Francisco del Rincon has the Denomination of Origin to manufacture hats; has a collective trademark registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property: The brand “Sombreros de San Pancho, Pueblos del Rincón”, in addition, it has the distinctive origin “Marca Guanajuato”, which recognizes the quality of Guanajuato products
This fair will be from June 10 to 12, with the state of Tamaulipas and the municipality of Jerez, Zacatecas, as guests of honor. Organizers expect 15,000 people to attend and an economic benefit of around 5.5 million pesos.
A complete program
In the Second Edition of the Fair there will be business meetings, training, a parade of hats from around the world, a GTO Brand caravan, a charreada, an artisanal gastronomic pavilion, a children’s farm, an area of terraces, music and local cuisine and cuisine from Tamaulipas and Jerez; here the local identity is promoted and rescued for the consumption of products from the region.
The capital of the hat
In San Francisco del Rincon there are more than 150 hat manufacturing companies, of which 30 are exporters; eight out of ten hats sold in Mexico come from this municipality, and of these, 90% is exported mainly to the United States and Canada, the rest goes mainly to Brazil, Peru, Chile and Germany.
