Guanajuato took center stage in the Tianguis Turistico Mexico 2026, where Yuriria was recognized as a winner in the Pueblo Magico category at the IV Magic Town Awards for Excellence.

The Magic Awards for Excellence, organized by the Excelencias Group, are part of one of the most important platforms for promoting tourism, gastronomy, and culture in the Spanish-speaking world.

Last April 8th the People’s Government of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, through the head of the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, reaffirmed Guanajuato’s tourism and cultural leadership by achieving these nominations in various categories of the 2026 Magic Awards for Excellence, an international recognition that distinguishes destinations, experiences and projects that stand out for their quality, innovation and contribution to tourism in Ibero-America.

In this 2026 edition, Guanajuato stood out with multiple nominations that reflected the diversity of its tourism offer:
- San Luis de la Paz, in the Wellness category (Health and Wellness), with the experience of La Casa del Venado Azul, which stands out for its focus on integral well-being and connection with nature
- Guanajuato City, nominated as City of Excellence, for its historical and cultural richness and its consolidation as one of the most emblematic destinations in Mexico
- Dolores Hidalgo Cradle of National Independence, with a double nomination: in the Culture category, through the International The King Festival, and in Enology, highlighting its growing relevance in wine production

- Comonfort, in the Gastronomy category, with the traditional ceremonial tortilla, a living symbol of the State’s culinary heritage
- Purisima del Rincon, in the Water and Botanical Legacy category, recognizing its natural wealth and its commitment to conservation
- San Miguel de Allende, in Heritage and Architecture, reaffirming its international prestige as a heritage city and world-class destination

- Salvatierra, in the category of Historical Heritage and Sustainable Cultural Tourism, for its invaluable architectural legacy and its promotion of responsible practices
- Yuriria, in the Religion category, with the Augustinian Route, which highlights its history, spirituality and convent architecture

These nominations not only represented recognition of the work done in each of the destinations, but also an opportunity to strengthen their positioning in national and international markets, attracting a visitor profile interested in cultural, gastronomic, wellness and sustainable tourism experiences.

The People’s Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, through SECTURI, reaffirms Guanajuato’s tourism and cultural leadership, opening new paths, projecting the best of its people, culture, and identity to the world.
