47 young Guanajuatenses were recognized after dedicating all their talent to the service of the “New Space Era” in the TODHE GTO 2022 Habitat Design Tournament in Space, in a hypothetical scenario, they created four companies and they designed a viable habitat for humans on a celestial body and established a colony settled in space.
IDEA GTO and SpacePort Mx held a special event at the premises of the UG High School of Leon, where the Tournament Award Ceremony was held.
Gabriel Santos Navarro, Director of Scientific and Technological Development of IDEA GTO, stated that in this TODHE edition… “ Students from different municipalities have been invited to develop projects that meet this international need, in which they apply their knowledge to develop a technological solution, that is, Mindfacture is applied”.
This Tournament offered participants a unique, fully immersive experience in an interactive, high-paced, and dynamic environment so that, as students they improve their knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
“This was the beginning of a great adventure and now I am here sharing this moment with you. I want to tell you that we have to know that in the future we will have to take on challenges that are the same or more difficult than in this tournament, that sometimes we will receive harsh criticism, that there will be great obstacles, but we must also know that in order to overcome all of the above, we have to be persevering, we must believe and and trust that we are capable of doing anything”, said Hilary Guadalupe Garcia Ibarra, a participant in the Tournament.

- 22 higher education institutions from Guanajuato
- 53% women
- 47% men
With activities like this, Mindfacture manages to reach young Guanajuatenses.
“It is an issue that is beginning to be important in the country and we want to bring it to the table that is a deep awareness, where gender is not a limitation, where we come from is not a limitation, in space there is room for everyone”, said Catalina Ramirez, CEO and Co-founder of SpacePort Mx.
“They open up possibilities for us so that they know very specific topics for their preparation and at a certain moment for their personal development”, said J. Merced Rizo Carmona, Director of the High School of the University of Guanajuato.
The Habitats in Space Design Tournament was an exclusive edition for Guanajuato, it was done in collaboration with Space Port and Expanding Frontiers, as well as with State allies such as:
- Secretary of Education, the Ministry of Social and Human Development, JUVENTUDesGTO, Aerospace Cluster del Bajío, University of Guanajuato, Advanced High School and Higher Education System, College of Scientific and Technological Studies of the State of Guanajuato, Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato, CONALEP, State College of Civil Engineers of Guanajuato, Explora Science Center, among others.
