The People’s Government, through the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato (SEG), guaranteed a place for 100 percent of the applicants who completed their admission process to Upper Secondary Education, in the school-based, mixed and non-school-based modalities.
The 87,966 students who successfully completed their registration process now have an assigned education option for the 2026-2027 school year.
Of them, more than 90 percent were placed in the institution they chose as their first option, a result that reflects efficient planning and coordination among the 14 upper secondary education subsystems that make up the State Commission for Planning and Programming of Upper Secondary Education (CEPPEMS), guaranteeing that no young person is left without the opportunity to continue their studies.
As part of the transformation of the education system, Guanajuato eliminated the admission exam as an entrance requirement this year; instead, a diagnostic assessment was implemented starting in March. This allowed for the identification of areas for academic improvement and provided timely information to high schools to implement preparatory courses and leveling strategies.
The Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, Luis Ignacio Sanchez Gomez, emphasized that the goal is to eliminate any barriers for young people to continue their studies.
“Today, Guanajuato is ready to welcome students with more spaces, more opportunities, and close support. We want to ensure that no one is left behind and that every young person has the chance to build their life project,” said Sanchez.
The access strategy is strengthened by a historic expansion of educational offerings. During the 2025-2026 school year, 31 new education centers began operating, including 26 Guanajuato Comprehensive High Schools (BIG), four federal schools, and a new DGETI center in Leon. This expansion significantly increased the capacity to serve more than 11,300 additional young people.
This year, 58 new high schools are projected to open, 40 of which will follow the Comprehensive High School model.
Guanajuato is positioned as the State with the greatest growth in upper secondary education coverage nationwide during the 2025-2026 school year.
Applicants can now consult the results lists at the school where they registered. Those who have been accepted must formalize their enrollment before June 30.
