The Institute of Access to Public Information for the State of Guanajuato celebrates 20 years in service

“The exercise of transparency represents for society an elemental factor for trust in authority. Therefore, today the congratulations are for the IACIP, but also for all of Guanajuato, for each of its institutions that have to do with transparency”, said the Secretary of Government, Jesus Oviedo Herrera, as he headed the ceremony to commemorate 20 Years of Transparency.
The event also served to present the report of the Institute for Access to Public Information for the State of Guanajuato –IACIP-.
“20 years after its creation, the IACIP has put Guanajuato at the forefront in the national context in transparency. It is an institution that has been able to adapt to changes, to evolve to better respond to social demands”, said Oviedo.
The IACIP has been distinguished for its work, highlighted in 2007 in the Metric of Transparency in Mexico by the Center for Economic Research and Teaching –CIDE-; obtained the Guanajuato Transparent Award 2008, first edition; received a Special Mention for the Microsite ‘Protection of Personal Data Covid 19’ in the INAI Innovation and Good Practices contest; and Second national place in the Open Government Metric in 2019.
Also, it won the First national place in the Open Government Metric in 2021; First place in the ‘Open Government’ factor of the World Justice Project Rule of Law Index in the 2021 and 2023 editions; furthermore, Guanajuato was one of the first states that faced the challenge of making public information transparent.
“These acknowledgments speak to us of serious, professional work, truly oriented towards protecting the citizen’s right to information and promoting its exercise. Therefore, my congratulations to all the people who have been part of this success story, which is the IACIP”, said Oviedo.
