Governor Libia Dennise acknowledged the work of civil associations and organized groups

Guanajuato/Gto News

To give more civil organizations and organized groups opportunities to promote their social causes, with transparency in the use of public resources, the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, announced that changes are being prepared to the Touching Hearts program for 2027.

During the Connecting with the People program, the State Governor acknowledged the work done by civil society organizations to address the needs of communities, especially those that the Government cannot always reach on its own.

“It must be acknowledged that organized civil society has causes that it naturally addresses, and it is wonderful to see how people help people,” the Governor said.

Through Tocando Corazones, these organizations and organized groups can access funding, training, and support to strengthen their projects and expand the benefits they offer to families in Guanajuato.

The Governor noted that the support can be allocated to causes such as the care of children and adolescents, people with disabilities, senior citizens, addiction prevention, mental health, education, food and other needs of the communities.

Rosario Corona Amador, Secretary of the New Beginning, explained that Touching Hearts has a public and transparent process, from the registration of projects to the verification of the resources delivered.

Through the program’s platform, anyone can check which organizations requested support, the amounts required, the reports justifying the approval or rejection of each project, and the progress in the execution of the budget, allowing for monitoring the allocation of public funds.

Katya Morales Prado, a member of the Specialized Evaluation Group, emphasized that citizen participation is fundamental to guarantee a technical and independent assessment of the projects.

Morales explained that between 60 and 80 specialists voluntarily contribute their knowledge, without receiving remuneration, to evaluate the needs that each proposal addresses, its viability and its social impact.

The Governor announced that, after listening to proposals from nearly 200 organizations, changes are being prepared for next year’s calls for proposals, in order to expand opportunities for participation.

Also, greater importance will be given to the social impact of each proposal, the number of people benefited, and the capacity of the organizations to develop their projects, without considering only their years of operation.

Libia Dennise noted that it is not essential to have a formally constituted civil association to begin participating, as the program includes support for organized groups to take that step and strengthen their work.

An example of what this support can achieve is the Kaleo AC Integral Development Center, in Dolores Hidalgo.

Its director, Luis Alberto Torres Garcia Travesi, shared that they started in 2022 serving about 12 children and that they currently have a list of 110 beneficiaries.

With the support of Tocando Corazones, they were able to strengthen their team and expand their actions of support.

“If you have a social cause, come to us so we can support you and help you shape your project, or boost your project through this great program,” said the Governor.
