“In the People’s Government, we will continue to promote the participation of young people in public affairs. We don’t want to talk about the young; we want to talk with young so they can make decisions and become empowered through the programs we have,” said Governor of Guanajuato Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo during the broadcast of the program Connecting with the People.

The State Governor recalled that last August 12th was International Young Day, a date established by the UN, to recognize the role of new generations and their importance in building a better present and a better future.

Therefore, the People’s Government dedicated the month of August to hold activities to attend to and promote the participation of young people, with a cross-cutting strategy that included 17 agencies and work in four areas:

  • Education and training
  • Employment and opportunities
  • Mental health and well-being
  • Participation and leadership

The activities for Young Month included the presentation of the 2026 State Juventudes Award; the business alliance in Guanajuato PuertoInterior; the Mental Health Forum at the State Congress; the start of Health Days in San Felipe; and the Leyendas del Ring wrestling show.

This broadcast of Connecting with the People featured Alma Regina Trujillo Ramirez, Director of Juventudes, who said that the programs aimed to the young respond to a comprehensive care model, considering the diversity of the young population in the 46 municipalities.

“The special Juventudes program calls on 17 agencies to achieve what is established in the Government Plan, to draw up indicators because we, the young, will continue to be that force that Guanajuato needs,” said Alma Regina Trujillo Ramirez.

In the Connecting with the People program, the Governor introduced three young Guanajuatenses out of a total of 21 who make up the Juventudes Cabinet, which promotes their participation in State agencies.

Maria Jose Teran Ocana, 22, is an animal rights activist who also works on other initiatives, such as creating spaces for the expression of local customs and traditions. Her project is part of the Secretary of Human Rights, specifically within the Undersecretary for Attention to Indigenous Peoples and Afro-Mexican People.

“We have the opportunity and the responsibility to do things, to open up spaces so that more young people can continue to come with their visions and this will have a huge positive impact,” said Maria Jose.

Jesus Eduardo Calvillo Garcia, 27, specializes in Human Capital Development. He has professional experience particularly in training, learning, communication, and human development. He completed a Master’s degree in Neuroeducation and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Organizational Consulting.

“Guanajuato is committed to work with the young, and that is where the space of making visible the voice, perspective, and experience of those of us who participate is dignified,” said Jesus Eduardo.

Jorge Brian Munoz Rivera, a 25-year-old architect, whose project is within the Secretary of Public Works, is developing a Strategic Manual that promotes truly inclusive design and universal accessibility, eradicating physical barriers and simplifying excessive bureaucratic processes.

“I would like to reach more young people and encourage them to join the Juventudes Cabinet. We are going to do things right so that more young people can make decisions,” said Jorge Brian.

“There is something that excites us a lot, and that is knowing that Guanajuato is in the hands of young people like you who are raising your hands, who are participating, and that you are the young who inspire,” said the Governor.
