The Governor announced 150 million pesos for maintenance and rehabilitation of the place

The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Guanajuato Cultural Forum and the “Wigberto Jimenez Moreno” State Central Library, at the “Roberto Plasencia Saldaña” Bicentennial Theater.
“It is an honor to be here, to celebrate two decades of a cultural project that was born from a shared dream. Over time, it has become one of the most important spaces for the human, artistic, and cultural development of Guanajuato and all of central Mexico,” said Libia Dennise.
The Governor, after acknowledging the people who have worked in this wonderful place of art and culture, announced that 150 million pesos will be allocated for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the Guanajuato Cultural Forum.
“I have instructed the Secretary of Culture and the Secretary of Public Works to get to work now, to work in a coordinated manner on the conservation, rehabilitation and strengthening of these spaces that are heritage of all of Guanajuato,” said the Governor.
“We want to continue strengthening the cultural and artistic offer in this venue; we want it to be full of families and more young people, and we want more local artists to bring their talent to this stage,” said Libia.
The Governor paid special tribute to the memory of “a man whose generosity left an indelible mark on this venue and on the cultural life of our State. To Don Roberto Plasencia Saldana. Today we remember his vision, his love for Guanajuato, and his profound conviction that culture is a tool capable of transforming lives.”
Libia Dennise said that art and culture should be bridges to reconnect, listen to each other, and become a more inclusive society.
“Today we are filled with pride by the Guanajuato Cultural Forum. It has more than fulfilled its mission of bringing art and culture closer to our people. This space has touched the lives of thousands of girls, boys, young people, women, and men,” said Libia Dennise.
Each of its venues: the Museum of Art and History of Guanajuato, the Roberto Plasencia Saldana Bicentennial Theater, the Calzada de las Artes, the Mateo Herrera Auditorium, the Wigberto Jimenez Moreno Central Library and the Department of Cultural Studies of the University of Guanajuato, have been the setting for countless of life stories, said the Governor.
The activities for the 20th anniversary will run from September 2026 to September 2027 and include music, opera, dance, theater, literature, science, exhibitions, and different proposals for audiences of all ages.
State authorities recognized the legacy of Roberto Plasencia Saldana, one of the promoters of the Cultural Forum, and unveiled a commemorative plaque.
