The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reaffirms its national leadership in organ and tissue procurement with a total of 811 donations during the People’s Government.

This figure translates into the lives of Guanajuatense residents who have been saved and reintegrated into the activities they had before receiving a diagnosis such as kidney failure.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, highlighted that this leadership represents the State’s ongoing commitment to strengthen organ and tissue donation, generate new opportunities of life for patients who require a transplant.
“Today we hold this national leadership with 811 organs and tissues procured so far in the current administration. In Guanajuato, during the first quarter of 2026, we reached 6.8 donors per million inhabitants,” said the Secretary.

This figure places Guanajuato in a prominent position nationally, far exceeding the average recorded in the country during the same period.
Guanajuato registered 6.8 donors per million inhabitants during the first quarter of 2026, a figure that represents almost three times the national average, located at 2.42 donors per million inhabitants.

The Secretary of Health emphasized that these results are the product of a coordinated hospital network, in which trained professionals participate to promptly identify potential donors and support the procurement processes.
Cortes acknowledged the generosity of Guanajuatense families, who, in difficult times, make the decision to donate organs and tissues, turning a loss into a possibility of life for other people waiting for a transplant.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato maintains ongoing efforts to strengthen the culture of donation through information, awareness, and hospital coordination, with the aim of making more people aware of the importance of expressing their willingness to donate in a timely manner.
