Just days after being named the World’s Best City 2026 by Travel + Leisure, San Miguel de Allende has once again been recognized by one of the world’s most influential travel platforms. This time, TripAdvisor included it among “The Best of Mexico” in the Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2026, a distinction that recognizes the destinations most highly rated by millions of travelers worldwide.
For the Government of the People and the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), this double recognition, obtained in less than a week, reaffirms the leadership of San Miguel de Allende in global tourism and confirms that its heritage wealth, cultural offer, gastronomy, hospitality and authentic experiences continue to win over visitors from all over the world.
The Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards represent TripAdvisor’s highest recognition, given to destinations and properties that receive an exceptional volume of outstanding reviews and ratings from its user community over a 12-month period. Of the more than eight million profiles registered on the platform, less than one percent achieve this distinction.
In presenting San Miguel de Allende among the best destinations in Mexico, Tripadvisor highlights its colonial architecture, its cobblestone streets, the emblematic Parish of San Miguel Arcangel and the cultural treasures that distinguish this World Heritage City, founded in 1542 and recognized for the fusion of Hispanic and Mesoamerican influences.
