The Secretary of Health maintains a comprehensive strategy to prevent dengue and other vector-borne diseases

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato maintains its dengue prevention and control strategy with fogging actions that contribute to reduce the risk of transmission of the disease by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, actions that have allowed the protection of 2 million 678 thousand 741 people.
The Secretary of Health, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, highlighted that the coordinated work of the vector control personnel has allowed for significant progress in preventive actions, strengthening the protection of the population before and during the rainy season.
The Secretary has set an annual goal of 35,722 hectares, of which 26,188 hectares have already been fogged, representing a progress of 73.3 percent, with the support of 982 heavy equipment units intended to combat the transmitting mosquito.
As part of the State operation, indoor spraying actions are also being carried out, with a goal of intervening in 84,678 homes. To date, 43,828 homes have been worked on, equivalent to a progress of 51.8 percent, directly benefiting 94,087 people.
Also, vector control brigades carry out ongoing larval control activities, eliminate breeding grounds, and promote preventive measures in high-risk areas, to reduce the presence of the transmitting mosquito and preventing the spread of dengue.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato urges the population to strengthen actions from home through the “Wash, cover, turn over and throw away” strategy, eliminating containers that accumulate water, keeping yards clean and allowing access to properly identified personnel when carrying out sanitary control work.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato will continue to strengthen surveillance, control, and prevention efforts during this season, with the commitment to protect the health of the population and reduce the risk of vector-borne diseases throughout the State.
