The protection of women and their access to justice are a priority for the People’s Government.

In the first half of 2026 alone, more than 13,000 administrative protection orders were issued in Guanajuato, representing an average of over 17 per day, to safeguard the lives, well-being, and security of women, adolescents, and girls experiencing violence.

As she reported on the progress of the Gender Violence Alert against Women (AVGM), the Special Prosecutor for the Investigation of Crimes of Forced Disappearance and Disappearance Executed by Individuals, Lucia Berenice Acosta Gomez, presented the results obtained by the State Attorney General’s Office in terms of attention, investigation and protection of women.

“In terms of protection and security, more than 3,000 administrative protection orders and more than 10,000 protection actions have been issued to safeguard the lives and well-being of women, adolescents, and girls. Furthermore, more than 40 percent of the cases initiated by specialized prosecutors have been brought to trial, resulting in more than 500 convictions,” reported Lucia Berenice.

The Official said that the Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office has Specialized Prosecutor’s Offices for Crimes Against Women (FEIDEM) in the municipalities of Leon, Purisima del Rincon, Irapuato, Celaya, Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo CIN, San Luis de la Paz, San Miguel de Allende, San Jose Iturbide and San Felipe, where specialized attention is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Regarding the search for missing women and girls, the Attorney General’s Office reported that 62 percent of those located through the Alba Protocol are found during the first phase of the search, that is, within the first 24 hours after the report is filed.

This result reflects the importance of immediate activation and coordination among institutions to increase the chances of finding them.

The Secretary of Women, Itzel Balderas Hernandez, emphasized that the protection of women is a priority for Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

“These orders are determined according to the level of risk in each case. They may include police escort, surveillance at the home or workplace, protection for the victim, support in recovering belongings, or temporary shelter in safe spaces. When the risk warrants it, and with the woman’s consent, she is also referred to a State Government shelter,” said Itzel.

The Undersecretary of Political Liaison and Development, Elvira Paniagua Rodriguez, reiterated the interest of the People’s Government in having the Federation reactivate the Interinstitutional and Multidisciplinary Group, with the purpose of monitoring and evaluating Guanajuato’s progress in complying with the actions derived from the Gender Violence Alert against Women.

The People’s Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen protection, access to justice, and institutional coordination so that women, adolescents, and girls in Guanajuato can live free from violence.
