As part of the “Guanajuato Si Sabe” Gastronomic Season, promoted by the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato, Mayor Roberto Garcia Urbano announced the upcoming 8th Walnut and Quince Gastronomic Fair. The event will be held on August 22 and 23 at the main square of the Jalpa de Canovas Magic Town.
The Mayor revealed that, for the first time, the event will feature two days of activities. This decision comes in response to the excellent reception of previous editions and direct requests from visitors, tourists, and tourism service providers eager for an extended festival experience.
“This growth represents a major opportunity to strengthen the economy for families in Jalpa de Canovas and the entire region. Besides promoting our gastronomy and traditional products, we aim to continue strengthening the identity of our Pueblo Magico and generate a greater economic impact for everyone participating in this great celebration,” said Mayor Roberto Garcia Urbano.
Municipal Tourism Director Jose Roberto Camargo Perez highlighted that after the success of the season’s first two culinary events, the Agave and Roots Festival in Canada de Negros, and Purisima of a Thousand Flavors in the City, preparations are already underway for this 8th Walnut and Quince Gastronomic Fair, which concludes the municipality’s summer culinary season.
Camargo noted that the three gastronomic festivals held in Purisima del Rincon are part of the “Guanajuato Si Sabe” Gastronomic Season, a strategic initiative backed by the Guanajuato Secretary of Tourism and Identity to promote the State’s culinary wealth, strengthen destination identity, and boost local tourism and the economy.
“This is one of the most anticipated events for visitors and tourists, as it celebrates the cuisine and products made with walnuts and quince, ingredients deeply rooted in the identity of Jalpa de Canovas. We are preparing a very special edition featuring gastronomy, local products, workshops, experiences, cultural activities, and family-friendly spaces. We will present the full program soon,” said Camargo.
The Walnut and Quince Gastronomic Fair has established itself as one of the premier tourism events in Purisima del Rincon. Year after year, it attracts visitors from various municipalities within Guanajuato and states such as Mexico City, Jalisco, Queretaro, and Nuevo Leon, who find a unique experience combining tradition, flavor, culture, and hospitality.
The Municipal Government invites locals and tourists alike to stay tuned to official channels, where the full schedule of activities for this eighth edition will soon be announced, further positioning Purisima del Rincon as a benchmark for gastronomic tourism in Guanajuato.
