“At 5:20 in the morning of this May 20, 2026, I managed to step for the third time in my life on the highest part of the planet, the summit of Everest,” reported Laura Gonzalez del Castillo.
“More than a number or a personal record, the motive that took me to that privileged place was to pay tribute to my beloved Yuri, who climbed it for the first time in his life precisely 30 years ago,” said the climber from Leon.
“One year after his death, in that privileged place, at 8,848 meters high, I left the last part of his ashes, as a tribute to the great mountaineer he was and who taught me to dream big,” said Laura Gonzalez.
“On a very intense day, on the busiest day of this season, when 270 other people also managed to step on that summit; for me, there was a moment where we were together and alone, him and I,” reflected Gonzalez del Castillo.
Laura reached the summit of Everest, where she proudly carried the banner of Guanajuato to the top of the world.
