The oldest city in Guanajuato will celebrate the 500th anniversary of its legal founding on September 19, 2026, a date that recognizes its historical role under the message “Guanajuato was born with Acambaro”.
On behalf of the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI) Lupita Robles Leon has reiterated the commitment to continue promoting traditions that strengthen the social fabric and generate opportunities for Guanajuatense families.
The Acambaro Regional Fair 2026 will take place from June 26 to July 5 with a program of religious, cultural, artistic and recreational activities for people of all ages, consolidating as one of the most representative events in the south of Guanajuato.
In addition to its cultural value, the fair represents an opportunity to strengthen the local economy through the arrival of visitors and the promotion of local products, services and gastronomy.
In the opening ceremony, recognition was given to the work of Mayor, Claudia Silva Campos, and her team for organizing a fair that promotes family togetherness, preserves traditions, and showcases the cultural richness of Acambaro.
The commemoration includes a wide-ranging cultural, tourism, and artistic program to strengthen the municipality’s identity and showcase its rich history as an engine for development. As part of the festivities, a commemorative coin, a postage stamp, and a National Lottery ticket will be unveiled, all inspired by emblematic symbols such as the Aqueduct, La Fidelita, and the traditional Acambaro Bread.
The celebrations will include the Regional Fair, the Breadmaking Fair, and the Foundation Festival, in addition to the Founders Event, which will be held from September 17 to 19 with the unveiling of the Baker and Founders sculptures as a historical legacy.
The artistic lineup will feature:
- Mijares (September 17)
- Banda La Adictiva (September 18)
- And “Juntos”, with Jorge Medina and Josi Cuen (September 19)
The Secretary of Tourism and Identity supports this strategy to boost visitor arrivals, strengthen the local economy, and solidify Acambaro as a historical and tourist landmark of Guanajuato.
