In order to strengthen the pedagogical tools of Physical Education teachers and promote the integral development of children, the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato (SEG), in collaboration with Ferrero Mexico, is promoting a training program in the international methodology Joy of Moving, which includes the training of 320 teachers in the State.
As part of this strategy, nearly 100 teachers in front of the group, technical-pedagogical advisors and Physical Education supervisors, from the regional delegations of Abasolo, Leon and Irapuato, participated in the second day of training, held at the facilities of the Quetzalcoatl University of Irapuato (UQI).
This initiative is part of the collaboration agreement of the SEG and Ferrero Mexico, through which the People’s Government strengthens teacher training and promotes education experiences that integrate movement, play and learning.
Guanajuato was the first state in Mexico to implement the Joy of Moving methodology in elementary schools in 2021. Since then, this partnership has allowed for its expansion into schools, the provision of teaching materials, and the strengthening of teachers’ skills. To date, more than 1,200 teachers have received training in this methodology.
Enrique Guzman Reyes, head of Sports and Physical Culture Promotion at the Undersecretary of Basic Education of the SEG, highlighted the importance of providing teachers with innovative tools that allow them to incorporate movement and play into their daily activities, in accordance with the content and learning development processes established in the current study programs.
Guzman acknowledged the commitment of the participants, who play a fundamental role in the application of these strategies within schools, by fostering dynamic, inclusive and participatory learning environments.
Solange Massimi, Director of Interinstitutional Affairs for Ferrero Mexico and Central America, acknowledged the coordinated work with the education authorities of Guanajuato and the commitment of the teaching staff to continue this initiative.
Massimi said that play and physical activity are fundamental tools for the growth and development of children.
The Joy of Moving methodology is based on four essential areas:
- Physical ability
- Motor coordination
- Cognitive functions
- Life skills
Through playful activities, Joy of Moving promotes participation, interaction, and collaboration, prioritizing fun and learning over competition.
Its implementation allows for adapting activities to the characteristics, ages, and needs of each group, as well as complementing the content of current education programs.
