The People’s Government is preparing a State agenda for families to experience the passion of soccer with sports, tourism, social activities and promotion of local talent, under the slogan “My team is Guanajuato”.

During another broadcast of Connecting with the People, the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, highlighted that the World Cup will be an opportunity to strengthen family unity, promote sports, boost tourism and show the world the quality of products made by Guanajuatense hands.
“Guanajuato doesn’t want to be left behind. Although we are not a World Cup host city, we say that the halftime show will be here in Guanajuato, because we are located between two World Cup host cities, Guadalajara and Mexico City, and we will have events so that families can experience this sporting celebration,” said the Governor.

One of the main activities will be the People’s Cup, a seven-a-side football tournament for men and women, which will be held in three stages:
- Municipal, regional and state
- With categories for ages 9 to 11, 12 to 14 and senior citizens
Yendy Cortinas Lopez, General Director of the Guanajuato State Sports Commission (CODE), explained that this Cup is carried out in a cross-cutting manner between CODE, the Secretary of the New Beginning, the Secretary of Security and Peace, the State DIF System and TV4.

Cortinas said that the regional stage will be held in San Luis de la Paz, Dolores Hidalgo, Leon, Guanajuato City, Moroleon and Cortazar; while the State stage will begin on August 15 at the Leon Uno Sports Unit, with the grand final on August 18.
The Tournament for Peace will also be held, with internal games in the 11 penitentiary centers of Guanajuato, aimed at incarcerated individuals. The Governor emphasized that this initiative strengthens social reintegration processes and opens new opportunities through sports.
In addition, there is “Football in Your Hands,” a call from the Secretary of Economy for Guanajuatense artisans to create the People’s Cup trophy; as well as “Football with a Cause,” an initiative of the State DIF to collect balls and deliver them to girls, boys, and adolescents in priority areas.

In economic matters, Luis Antonio Vargas Zavala, General Director of the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade of the State of Guanajuato (COFOCE), noted the support given to Guanajuatense companies that are now World Cup suppliers, such as:
- Sombreros Salazar Yepez, from San Francisco del Rincon
- Hebillas y Herrajes Finos from Leon
“When a public policy that generates opportunities is combined with companies that do their job well, projects that give visibility to Guanajuato and pave the way for more entrepreneurs are achieved,” said Luis Antonio Vargas.
“Every time you buy a hat, you are supporting families and women artisans. This hat originated in San Francisco del Rincon and is 100 percent handmade with great Guanajuatense pride,” said Guillermo Salazar Yepez, owner of Sombreros Salazar Yepez.

“When a tourist wears our hat, when a Mexican wears it at a game, he carries San Francisco del Rincon and Guanajuato in his heart,” said the State Governor.
Guadalupe Robles Leon, Secretary of Tourism and Identity, announced that the Guanajuato Bicentennial Park will join the agenda with Mundo Gol, an interactive temporary exhibit where soccer is experienced through video games, immersive technology, virtual reality and skill challenges.
Libia also highlighted Guanajuato’s participation in the federal app Mexico Invites, with 15 tourist routes that integrate the 46 municipalities and the seven regions of the State; besides the presence of Mexico de mis Sabores, in Mexico City, with traditional Guanajuatense cuisine.

The Governor reported that Guanajuato is joining the National Program for Intervention and Modernization of Sports Infrastructure in preparation for the World Cup, with 279 sports facilities validated by the Federation and 30 murals, in addition to actions on new and rehabilitated courts.
In addition, programs such as La Cascarita Escolar, of the Secretary of Education; Grafibol, with 30 soccer murals in 27 municipalities; and Doctor Balon, of the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, will be activated.
The Governor announced that Guanajuato will broadcast 50 World Cup matches in free and safe public spaces so that families can experience the excitement of soccer together.

The venues are:
- Square of the Templo Expiatorio, in Leon
- Main Square in Yuriria
- Main Square in Dolores Hidalgo
Lupita Robles explained that these broadcasts will be official, with companies authorized by FIFA, and were achieved with the support of the Federal Tourism Secretary.
“These will be meeting points, places for our people, for Guanajuatense families, and for visitors. It’s not just about broadcasting soccer, but about providing a safe, comfortable, and family-friendly experience,” said the Secretary of Tourism.

The venues will open one hour before each match and close one hour after. The complete schedule can be found at:

“Guanajuato is ready to welcome its visitors with open arms. We are not a World Cup host, but we are going to experience this celebration with great excitement, as a family, consuming products made in Guanajuato and always putting our people first,” said Libia Dennise.
