With the goal of strengthening the tourism and tequila identity of Canada de Negros, the Municipal Government of Purisima del Rincon presented the 4th edition of the Agave and its Roots Fair.

This now-traditional event, held on June 21 at the town’s square, has established itself as one of the regions premier gastronomic, oenological, and cultural gatherings.

Roberto Garcia Urbano, Municipal President of Purisima del Rincon, highlighted that this event was born in 2023 with a vision to boost the tourism potential of Canada de Negros and surrounding communities, leveraging the cultural treasures, gastronomy, and the official designation of origin held by the municipality.

The Mayor noted that the Agave and Roots Fair has fostered local identity and pride, becoming a space where families, producers, and service providers find development opportunities.
Garcia Urbano emphasized that the fair is the result of coordinated efforts of residents, entrepreneurs, traditional cooks, and the local government, successfully positioning Purisima del Rincon as a competitive tourist destination within the State of Guanajuato.

Representing the Secretary of Tourism, Lupita Robles Leon, official Daniel Gutierrez Meave underscored the importance of such events as engines for development and job creation. Furthermore, the tequila industry continues to bolster tourism along Purisima del Rincons scenic corridors.

The Mayor boasted about three major culinary highlights for Purisima del Rincon during the Guanajuato Gastronomy Season 2026:
- 4th Agave and Roots Fair: June 21
- 8th Purisima of a Thousand Flavors: July 12
- 8th Walnut and Quince Fair in Jalpa de Canovas (Pueblo Magico): August 23

A Celebration for the Whole Family
The 2026 edition of the Agave Fair will coincide with Fathers Day, offering activities for all ages, including tequila experiences, handicrafts, music, cultural shows, and equestrian events. Organizers expect to break previous attendance records with both national and international visitors.

The fair features a diverse lineup:
- 50 local, regional, and international exhibitors
- Artisans, traditional cooks, and gastronomic representatives
- Tequila producers and tour operators
In a special twist for this edition, the fair will host an international gastronomy zone featuring representatives from Venezuela, Italy, Egypt, Algeria, and El Salvador.

The artistic program promises to be spectacular, featuring mariachi, traditional dance, inclusive activities, and charreria shows with “escaramuzas,” rope trick artists, and dancing horses. The grand finale will be a free performance by La Kumbre con K on the soccer field stage.

Municipal authorities called for a responsible celebration, encouraging attendees to use designated drivers and maintain a safe, family-friendly atmosphere. The event also continues to promote sustainability through plastic reduction initiatives and training for tourism service providers.
With events like these, Purisima del Rincon continues to strengthen its tourism corridor, projecting an identity rooted in tradition and authentic experiences for the world to see.
