The treasures of Mexico’s musical traditions arrives at the Purisima del Rincon City Theater with Raices Sonoras: La Muerte y la Ofrenda Musical (Sound Roots: Death and the Musical Offering), a concert that invites you to explore the memory, identity, and cultural legacy of the indigenous peoples through their most representative sounds.

This concert will be performed by the Intercultural Orchestra and Choir of Leon (OCIL), a group that seeks to contribute to the dissemination and appreciation of Mexican musical heritage from an intercultural perspective.

The presentation will also feature the Cantoria Salmantina, a children’s and youth choir founded in 2016 in Salamanca, Guanajuato, which promotes musical training and the dissemination of repertoires linked to indigenous communities; and the Choir Valle de Rosas, a group with a repertoire that includes sacred and traditional Mexican music. Both groups will lend their voices to this experience that celebrates the diversity and richness of musical heritage.

Dance and stage performance will be integrated through the Shido Folkloric Ballet, which will contribute the movement and expression of Mexican traditions, while Jazmin Perez will bring to life La Catrina, an emblematic figure of Mexican culture that evokes the relationship with death and the ways of honoring the memory of those who left before us.

This program is part of the 2026 Music Season and offers a journey through expressions that are part of Mexico’s living history, from ceremonial chants to rhythms linked to the land and nature.
The concert invites us to recognize the traditions of indigenous peoples and their connection to nature, time, and the sacred, as well as to discover in each melody a part of our shared identity.
