Representing the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, led the traditional Rain of Bread, of the Acambaro Breadmaking Fair, a celebration that recognizes the legacy of the breadmaking families and reaffirms traditions as an engine of identity, tourism and development for the communities.

After participating in the traditional Bread Rain, the head of the Secretary of Tourism and Identity explained that the People’s Government recognizes that the traditions of the municipalities are one of Guanajuato’s greatest strengths to promote tourism, strengthen the local economy and preserve the identity of the people of Guanajuato.

Before Municipal Authorities, members of the Commission for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Legal Foundation of Acambaro, Acambaro Bakers Association, the master bakers, as well as all the people who make this celebration posible, Robles Leon noted that the Breadmaking Fair represents one of the most important expressions of Acambaro’s identity, by valuing a trade that for generations has been preserved by families who keep their traditional recipes, knowledge and techniques alive.

The Secretary said that behind each piece of bread there is talent, dedication, effort and a deep love for the land that has allowed Acambaro to consolidate itself as a national benchmark for traditional breadmaking.
Robles noted the significance of the traditional Bread Rain, performed in honor of the Virgin of Refuge, as an expression of faith that symbolizes blessing, abundance, and prosperity for the families of the municipality.

The Secretary pointed out that traditions also represent an opportunity to strengthen tourism activity, by attracting visitors, encouraging local consumption and generating benefits for merchants, service providers, artisans, traditional cooks, producers and entire families.

The Breadmaking Fair is also part of the commemorative program for the 500th anniversary of the Legal Founding of Acambaro, a celebration that over the next few months will bring together cultural, historical, religious, gastronomic, artistic and community activities to recognize the heritage of the municipality and project it as a tourist destination with unique treasures.
