The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the event “Ambassadors of Peace Heading to Japan,” an initiative that reflects Guanajuato’s commitment to promote prepared, engaged young Guanajuatenses with a global vision.

This program, promoted by the People’s Government through the Institute for the Development and Care of Youth, in coordination with Reiyukai Mexico and the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Leon Campus, has allowed young Guanajuatenses to live formative experiences in Japan since 2013, strengthening values such as discipline, respect, cooperation and community commitment.

“Today we are here to wish a safe journey to 23 young Guanajuatenses who will be Ambassadors of the Guanajuato Peace Community. You will be spokespeople for unity; in times of discussion, you will be the dialogue,” said the Governor.

These 23 young who participated in the “Heading to Japan” program represent 14 municipalities from all corners of our State. They come from different backgrounds, but today they are united by a common purpose: to take the essence of Guanajuato to the other side of the ocean and bring the wisdom and experience of Japan back to our land.

Libia noted that Guanajuato and Japan have built a relationship that goes far beyond the important Japanese companies established in our State or trade agreements. “We are united by discipline, a deep respect for family, loyalty, and that resilient ability to rise above any adversity.”

“You are going to a country that has transformed pain into peace, and crises into innovation. As you walk through the streets of that country, I want you to observe not only the technology, but also the courtesy, order, and sense of community,” said the Governor.

“In the People’s Government, we have a very clear conviction: young people are not the future, they are the present that is building the future. That is why we promote programs like Heading to Japan, this initiative which, for more than a decade, has opened doors to the world for our young people, to live experiences that not only teach them about another culture, but also teach them to see themselves with new eyes,” said Libia.

The event also presented the conference and testimony of Yasuaki Yamashita Takeno, a man who survived the unimaginable in Nagasaki and who turned that pain into a message of hope.

“You are going to Japan to learn, but you will also be taking Guanajuato, our culture, our talent, and our joy with you. And I address the families of our young people who are with us today. This achievement is also yours. Be deeply proud. You have raised these good women and men. Thank you for believing in them, for encouraging them, and for allowing them to soar,” said the Governor.

“Go and make our State proud in Japan. Go and show that our youth have the talent and the heart to change the world,” said the Governor.
