Guanajuato is advancing in Digital Transformation by using Artificial Intelligence in the CercanAI encounter that promotes a digital Guanajuato

CercanIA: Artificial Intelligence for the People was held with 7,500 registered attendees; the event is part of the Guanajuato Digital strategy, which seeks to leverage technology to improve the lives of the people of Guanajuato.

Guanajuato Digital is a public policy aimed at integrating technology into procedures and services, based on the premise of greater citizen engagement and fewer bureaucratic hurdles. This event was attended by students, business owners, public officials, entrepreneurs, and other eager to learn about the applications of artificial intelligence.

In the event they launched the Guanajuato Digital Transformation Agenda and the Ethical Artificial Intelligence Roadmap, which guide the State’s digital transformation. The latter document, developed by UNESCO, made Guanajuato the first State in Mexico to sign such an instrument.
The inaugural ceremony was led by the Secretary of Government, Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona, representing Governor Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo. Jiménez Lona said that technology is a tool to improve citizen services and reduce access gaps.

The event was attended by representatives of international organizations and global companies, including Andres Morales, representative of UNESCO in Mexico.
As part of the strategy, an alliance was formalized with Microsoft to provide 100,000 Guanajuatenses with training in Artificial Intelligence. Regarding the professional development of the public sector, it was reported that 8,236 public servants have already completed their training in this area. In education, the strategy has reached 3,753 students and teachers through the use of digital platforms.

Andres Morales, from UNESCO, highlighted that Guanajuato is a case study in the report on subnational experiences in the implementation of the Recommendation on AI Ethics, which positions the State as a benchmark in technological governance.

Participants highlighted the creation of strengthened communities of 1,500 women in AI and the development of inclusion pathways for people with visual impairments, demonstrating that in the People’s Government, technology belongs to everyone. “We went beyond the technical aspects; we brought AI to our women, students, and senior citizens to reduce gaps and strengthen local talent.”


Attendees at CercanIA experienced listening to 7 keynote lectures with experts in innovation and technology, participating in 5 panels specializing in Artificial Intelligence, taking 30 practical workshops and micro-workshops focused on the use of AI, aimed at entrepreneurs, businesses, families, students and senior citizens, experiencing 12 training sessions in AI, visiting 5 booths of technology giants and 20 booths of Artificial Intelligence startups.
