In Leon, dreams and fun are for everyone. Thanks to the City’s commitment, thousands of families were able to enjoy the International Balloon Festival (FIG) without distinction, by activating free transportation from neighborhoods and rural communities. This ensured that every person had the opportunity to experience the magic and color.

This is how hundreds enjoyed a joyous and magical weekend at a world-class event. For Guadalupe Jazmin, a resident of the rural community of San Juan de Abajo, it was more than just an event, it was a moment of fun for her and her triplets.

Jazmin shared that it was beautiful to see a balloon so close to her community for the first time, coincidentally on the same date her daughters celebrate their birthday.
“It’s something beautiful because my daughters, the triplets, are turning 8, and for them, it was like a gift; it was like bringing the Balloon Festival right to their house,” she said.

Stories like Guadalupe’s motivate the City Government, led by Mayor Ale Gutierrez, to ensure that no family is left without experiencing the events that make Leon great.
Actions were implemented to bring one of the city’s most important events closer to children, young people, and senior citizens throughout the city.

On Friday, November 14, entry to the Metropolitan Park of Leon was free for the general population to enjoy this experience.
That day, the City Government deployed 65 buses from more than 45 neighborhoods and 20 communities across the 7 delegations, allowing hundreds of people who could not otherwise get to the FIG to live this experience.

This initiative ensured that residents of rural communities had the same chance to experience the FIG, regardless of distance or economic conditions.

For families who could not attend on Friday due to work, under the direct instruction of Mayor Alejandra Gutierrez, the Secretary for Social Strengthening of Leon distributed 700 additional complimentary tickets. This allowed made it possible that more families enjoyed free access to the FIG on Saturday, November 15, Sunday, November 16, and Monday, November 17.

The complimentary passes were delivered, prioritizing families in areas with less access to these types of events, and to rural communities whose residents have had fewer opportunities to attend.
With these actions, the City Government reaffirms that Leon is a city that opens doors, creates opportunities, and brings culture, community spirit, and fun to all, without exception.
