The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato joins the 2026 National Vaccination Week, which will be held from April 25 to May 2, with the slogan “Vaccinating is loving”.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, said that, for this intensive campaign, the goal has been set to administer 79,091 doses of vaccines throughout the State, to strengthen the coverage of the basic vaccination schedule and protect the population against preventable diseases.

Cortes called on mothers, fathers and caregivers to check the National Health Card of their daughters and sons, as well as of older adults, to verify that they have their complete vaccinations.

During the week, essential vaccines will be administered free of charge at medical units, as well as at vaccination sites strategically located in easily accessible public spaces.

The actions will be focused primarily on:

  • Protecting children between 0 and 9 years old, through the application of key vaccines such as the hexavalent vaccine, which protects against six diseases
  • The rotavirus vaccine
  • The pneumococcal vaccine}
  • The booster against measles, rubella and mumps (MMR)

Likewise, a special invitation was extended to pregnant women to get vaccinated: from 20 weeks of gestation they can receive the Tdap vaccine, and between weeks 32 and 36, the vaccine against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), contributing to the protection of the newborn.}

For older adults, the pneumococcal vaccine will be available, especially for those who do not yet have it in their vaccination schedule.

The State Health Department reiterates that vaccination is not only a preventive measure, but an act of love and responsibility that allows children and families to grow and develop with well-being and security.

Properly trained health personnel will be available to provide guidance and answer any questions during this week, at mobile vaccination posts as well as Health Centers.

To request vaccines, it is recommended to bring the National Health Card, and take advantage of this opportunity to protect those we love most, because “Vaccinating is loving,” preventing is caring.
