During the first day of conferences of the International Congress for the Social Prevention of Violence and Crime: “Artificial Intelligence and Public Security: Opportunities and Challenges”, Iván Kraljevic, addressed the topic ‘Smart Technologies for Citizen Security Operations in Real Time’.
This presentation is focused on the role of technology in real-time operations, such as emergency response and attention, patrol operations, interdiction operations, and real-time crime-fighting programs.
The speaker appreciated the opportunity to share this forum to enrich knowledge on prevention. He recognized that no technology alone can provide operational benefits, except when it is adopted with changes in the institution’s processes pushed and applied by its human resources.
However, said Kraljevic, technological tools can help police and emergency forces to better carry out their duties and work, thus providing security to the inhabitants.
Kraljevic noted that real-time surveillance tasks require the use of many technologies for the management and attention of incidents, so knowledge of these tools and their correct use is important.
Iván Kraljevic said that new features of well-established technologies can have as big an impact as new technologies. He highlighted that smart solutions and artificial intelligence can provide important benefits when they go with the evolution of the institution, its objectives and its human resources.
Finally, he highlighted the prioritization of investments in technologies, which must adjust to the institutional objectives of each security agency.
Mr. Iván Kraljevic is a Command and Control solutions specialist for the Latin America and Caribbean Region of Motorola Solutions. The speaker has dedicated most of his professional life to working with information and communication technologies for public security.
