In order to strengthen connectivity, improving mobility and raising the quality of life of families, the People’s Government announced a series of strategic actions for Guanajuato City, which include infrastructure projects, urban development and evaluation of concession schemes.

The Secretary of Public Works, Juan Pablo Perez Beltran, reported that, under the instructions of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, a comprehensive intervention will be promoted in different key points of the City, with a vision that prioritizes people and the orderly development of the territory.

Among the main actions, Perez noted the strengthening of access routes to the City. On the toll free highway, technical work will be carried out focused on defining solutions to improve its functionality and safety, as well as coordinating its maintenance with the Federal Government through the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT).

Perez Beltran said that the modernization of the toll road access, including the Euquerio Guerrero boulevard, is planned in order to expedite transfers to the city center and reduce traffic congestion in critical areas.

As part of a comprehensive urban development strategy, Perez Beltran noted that improvement actions will also be promoted in the City Center, the Paseo de la Presa and the area of the old railway station, in coordination with the Municipality and the State Tourism Secretary, strengthening the cultural, tourist and social value of these spaces.

Regarding mobility, a comprehensive study will be conducted in the southern part of the city, led by IPLANEG, to address one of the areas with the greatest growth and vehicle density, generating sustainable solutions.

Additionally, Perez Beltran announced that a comprehensive evaluation of the Silao–San Miguel de Allende highway concession, as well as the use of the Guanajuato–Silao highway, will be carried out by internationally recognized companies.

This analysis will include technical, financial, and regulatory components to ensure that the scheme operates according to criteria of efficiency, transparency, and social benefit. “The results of this evaluation will be available in September,” said Perez Beltran.

The Official said that the benefits for the residents of Guanajuato City who use the Guanajuato-Silao highway regularly will be expanded by increasing the number of TAG stickers per resident of the capital from one to three, as well as increasing the toll discount from 35% to 40%, starting April 15.

“We continue working to ensure Guanajuato moves forward, is better connected, and has a better future,” said the head of the Public Works Secretary.
