Measles recedes in Guanajuato

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato has registered three months without any new cases of the illness

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato has registered three months without any new cases of measles in the State.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, said that nine registered cases have been recognized by the federal government and are located in the State.

“There are five cases that were infected and work in Queretaro and the Federation counts them as from Queretaro, they are originally from and residents of our State”, said the Official.

Cortes Alcala said that the epidemiological curve is in clear decline, not only in Guanajuato, but also in neighboring states, since no new reports of infections have been presented in neighboring states, while in Jalisco fewer cases are registered periodically per week.

Regarding the low incidence of cases in Guanajuato, the Secretary of Health explained that it is due to the fact that epidemiological surveillance is having good results.

In Guanajuato this surveillance is carried out in an extraordinary way, because the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato has the best epidemiological surveillance and intentional search for cases in Mexico, besides a very important vaccination coverage.

Finally, the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato highlighted the population’s attitude for having that sensitivity, for knowing that vaccination is an act of love and an act of prevention, and that it helps avoid diseases.
