The Secretary of Security and Peace, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection, urges the population to reinforce prevention actions in light of the forecast of intense rains for Guanajuato until July 2.

According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), rainfall will range between 75 and 150 millimeters in Guanajuato, which may increase the level in rivers and streams, causing flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

The State Coordination of Civil Protection maintains constant monitoring of weather conditions, as well as communication and coordination with municipal Civil Protection agencies to review areas susceptible to damage and provide timely assistance to the population.
In Guanajuato a total of 89 bodies of water such as canals, rivers and streams located in 26 municipalities, have a medium to very high probability of flooding.

The agency recommends avoiding crossing flooded rivers, streams, or roads; staying away from waterways during rain; and securing objects that could be blown away by wind or water.
Citizens are urged to report any risky situation to the 911 emergency system and to follow the instructions of municipal authorities at all times.

The Secretary of Security and Peace reiterated the commitment to safeguard the integrity of the people of Guanajuato through preventive actions, monitoring and inter-institutional coordination, and invites the population to strengthen the culture of prevention during the current rainy season.
