“Education is our priority, which is why we are taking firm steps to ensure that our sons and daughters have the best conditions for studying. Therefore, an additional 100 million pesos will be allocated for the maintenance of school facilities, in addition to the 1.014 billion pesos that will be allocated this year,” said Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

Libia presented the news on her program “Connecting with the People”, where she mainly addressed the issue of the actions being carried out in education infrastructure.

This broadcast also featured the participation of the Secretary of Education, Luis Ignacio Sanchez Gomez; and the Secretary of Public Works, Juan Pablo Perez Beltran.

The Governor noted that work is underway to improve educational spaces so that students can carry out their academic activities in the best possible way, and that this is a cross-cutting effort between the Secretaries of Education and of Public Works.

Libia noted that last year more than 1.247 billion pesos were invested in education infrastructure actions at different school levels; serving 514 schools for the benefit of more than 549,000 students in the 46 municipalities.

The Secretary of Education explained that “since the first day of this administration, we have been working to improve educational facilities at all levels.”

And for this year, the Governor highlighted, an investment of 1 billion 014 million pesos will be made to improve the conditions of schools at all educational levels.

“Today I want to make another announcement: we are going to increase the maintenance budget for our schools by 100 million pesos this year, with the purpose of guaranteeing safety and improving conditions for our students,” the Governor reiterated.

The School Roofing Program has been a collaborative effort with the Public Works Department, aiming to install 400 roofs during the first three years of this administration. 261 roofs have already been completed. “And we will continue to strengthen this program because it is undoubtedly the most pressing need of the people,” the Governor stated.

Juan Pablo Perez said that the Public Works Secretary has a permanent collaboration with the SEG (State Secretary of Education) to be able to intervene in schools that require intervention; “it is an important responsibility to guarantee the safety of the students, so that they can study in the most peaceful and comfortable way.”

Finally, Libia Dennise called on society to recognize and value the work done by teachers in Guanajuato, which are among the best in the country.
