The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, in coordination with sector institutions, has administered 988,506 measles vaccines from 2025 to date.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcalá, said that the intensive vaccination campaign protects the population and the staff who are in direct contact with vulnerable groups.
As part of the ongoing measles prevention campaign, significant progress has been made in the application of the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine in different age groups, thanks to the inter-institutional coordination of the health sector.
As of the latest update, the sector’s cumulative total reflects the application of:
- 120,221 doses in 1-year-old girls and boys
- A 115% compliance with the programmed goal
- 125,203 doses in the 18-month age group
- Reaching 120% coverage
- 145,411 doses have been administered in children under 6 years of age
- Equivalent to 131% coverage
These numbers consolidate a sustained advance in the protection of the child population.
In this vaccination campaign, the Secretary of Health stands out with:
- 84,829 doses applied to children under 1 year old, representing a percentage of 117%
- 89,961 in the 18-month group (124%)
- 111,035 in 6-year-old girls and boys, reaching an outstanding 162% coverage
Regarding the strategy of initiating and completing vaccination programs, the Secretary of Health has contributed with:
- 11,236 first doses
- 43,376 second doses
Furthermore, in the adult population from January 2025 to April 2026, the health sector has achieved the application of a total of 520,015 doses, the result of the joint effort between institutions to expand coverage and protect priority groups and the general population.
Of the total sectoral doses:
- 439,168 doses have been applied to the general population
- 47,791 doses to health personnel
- 21,189 doses applied to teachers
- 11,867 doses have been allocated to agriculture laborers, a priority group due to their mobility and vulnerability
As part of the vaccination strategy, additional doses were administered to healthcare personnel, as well as a dose targeted at daycare and education sector staff aged between 20 and 49, contributing to strengthening community protection.
