At a key moment for North American trade relations, as Mexico and the United States conduct the third round of bilateral negotiations as part of the Joint Review process of the USMCA, the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade, COFOCE; in coordination with the Secretary of Economy of the State of Guanajuato, held the meeting “USMCA: Overview and Perspectives 2026”.
Given this situation, COFOCE works to ensure that Guanajuatense companies do not wait to know the final result of the process to begin preparing, but rather have information, tools and support from now on to anticipate risks, identify opportunities and strengthen their strategies to stregthen competitiveness.
The forum brought together about 120 representatives from companies, chambers of commerce, associations, clusters and business organizations.
The reunion was led by Luis Antonio Vargas Zavala, general director of COFOCE, and included the participation of William Rousvoal, coordinator of Investment Attraction Projects of the Secretary of Economy of the State of Guanajuato.
“I would like to emphasize something very important, something that distinguishes Guanajuato from other states: in the People’s Government, there is the only specialized agency dedicated exclusively to the promotion of foreign trade, COFOCE, which supports more than 2,000 Guanajuato MSMEs in taking their products to the world,” said Vargas Zavala.
The Director pointed out that this work represents a great responsibility: to be the link between companies and international opportunities, but also to become an ally that accompanies, informs and prepares the productive sector in the face of changes in the global environment.
“We will continue working and preparing in close collaboration with the Secretary of Economy. And we will continue supporting our companies so that, regardless of the results of this review, they have more tools to compete and take advantage of the opportunities that North America offers,” said Vargas Zavala.
COFOCE will maintain a permanent communication with chambers of commerce, associations and clusters, especially with the automotive sector, to directly understand their needs and support them in building strategies for competitiveness, regional integration and diversification.
Another priority will be to contribute to build a single voice between the Government and the productive sector, considering that, in a constantly evolving international environment, coordination also represents a competitive advantage for Guanajuato.
“We are talking about providing timely information through our Foreign Trade Observatory; strengthening specialized training; and maintaining ongoing collaboration; above all, we are talking about building a unified voice between the government and the productive sector,” emphasized the Director General of COFOCE.
