The People’s Government is allocating a historic investment of 939.7 million pesos to maintain roads increasing the budget by more than 50%
The actions include pothole repair, leveling, crack sealing, cleaning and dredging of drainage works, ditch maintenance, weeding, among others

The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, presented the program “In Guanajuato We Are On The Right Way”, with which the 2026 Highway Conservation Program is launched.
“In Guanajuato we have a great network of highways and roads that connect us to life and progress, and here, we say it very clear and with great conviction, we believe in and are committed to this investment,” said Libia Dennise, highlighting the historic investment of 939.7 million pesos in this year 2026.
“Today, at this very significant event for us, we are launching a comprehensive strategy aimed at maintaining our State network of toll-free highways in the best possible condition, and we are doing so with a historic investment,” the Governor emphasized.
In 2025 the investment was for 620 million pesos, so the increase is just over 50%, to strengthen preventive maintenance and prevent the deterioration of the roads from generating higher costs in the future.
In addition, the Federal Government is investing 1.167 billion pesos in the conservation of 1,500 kilometers of federal highways in Guanajuato, representing a joint effort to strengthen the State’s road infrastructure.
The State investment is distributed as follows:
- 781.2 million pesos for routine and preventive maintenance
- 158.4 million pesos for complementary work
The actions include pothole repair, leveling, crack sealing, cleaning and dredging of drainage works, ditch maintenance, weeding, horizontal and vertical signage, traffic light maintenance, rehabilitation of sections and placement of new asphalt layer, among other.
This is a comprehensive strategy to maintain the State toll-free highway network in optimal condition through routine and preventive maintenance, rehabilitation, and additional work, in order to offer greater road safety, strengthen connectivity, and facilitate the mobility of families in Guanajuato.
The State has one of the most important state highway networks in Mexico, made up of more than 2,640 kilometers of toll-free highways, which connect cities, rural communities, industrial zones, logistics corridors and tourist destinations.
The project was launched on the Silao–San Felipe highway, one of Guanajuato’s strategic corridors. This road connects the State’s center with northern Mexico, facilitating the movement of people and goods to states like San Luis Potosi, Coahuila, and Nuevo Leon, and registers an average annual daily traffic of 17,621 vehicles.
“We know that behind every kilometer in good condition there is ongoing work, because Guanajuato has been working hard for many years to have the best roads in the country. Today we are beginning a new stage, a stage that reaffirms that in Guanajuato we continue to move forward, and we say it here with great pride: in Guanajuato, we are on the right way,” said the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise.
