In the International Dengue Day, the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato emphasizes that prevention is a shared responsibility of authorities and society

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reports that, as of August of this year, dengue cases in the State have decreased by 77 percent, compared to the same period in 2025.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, reported that during the same period in 2025, 345 cases of dengue were registered, while in 2026, 81 cases were recorded, representing a reduction of 264 cases and reflecting the impact of preventive actions.
To make it posible the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato maintains permanent epidemiological surveillance to promptly identify cases and risk areas, in addition to strengthening prevention and control actions against the transmitting mosquito.
The main actions include the elimination of breeding sites, fogging, larval control and home visits, strategies that contribute to reduce the presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

Cortes Alcale urged the population to actively participate in prevention, keeping patios and rooftops clean, eliminating containers that accumulate water, and covering those containers that need to be kept.
In the International Dengue Day, which is commemorated every August 26, the Secretary of Health emphasizes that prevention is a shared responsibility of authorities and society.
This date aims to raise awareness about the prevention and control of dengue fever, a disease transmitted mainly by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, with a reproduction cycle that can be prevented through simple actions at home.
The Secretary insisted in the call to maintain preventive measures throughout the year and to go immediately to the People’s Health Centers if symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle or joint pain and general symptoms occur.
